Kevin (Turkey) Merck is a young Georgia potter who has been making pottery for around five years. Around 2003-4, he first learned the process of making pottery from his baseball buddy Wayne Hewell and other potters of the Gillsville, GA folk pottery region. Kevin has now set up his own shop and makes pottery full time. At twenty-five years old, he is a very creative young potter with a personal style and his work is unique in its artistry and sculptural forms. While he is famous for his face stumps, he also loves to make face jugs and sculpt a variety of animals. Kevin/Turkey is extremely passionate about his work and feels that God has played a vital part in the blessings that he has received through the creation of his pottery.
