Stacy Lambert Born July 30, 1965- Asheboro, NC and has lived in North Carolina all his life and has not moved far from where he was born. His mother and father were cotton mill workers all their lives and after a time in the army, Stacy worked in a textile mill for 17 years, until it closed in 2007. Stacy attended Seagrove School and has known the famous potters of the area all his life. He attended church with the famous potter Raymond Cole and knew several other potter of the area. It was not until 1992 that he started working with Sid Luck, a traditional potter of Seagrove. Sid comes from a family of potters who traces their pottery tradition back to William Luck 1810-1888 and comes from one of North Carolina’s most famous pottery families. Stacy is a self-taught artist developing his surreal images on his own. It is no surprise that his favorite artists are Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher, while comic books have also had a great influence on his work. Stacy says that he wants his pottery to entertain and to tell a story He loves to use lots of color and detail in his pottery and uses tiny brushes to create his fantasy animals, historical figures and bizarre environments. He works in an old tobacco barn he played in as a boy. He says he is like a turtle, who has found its shell and when he is making pottery or painting, he says he goes into his own world and does not want to come out. 6"X10"X10"
